Hello.  My name is Peter Sprague.  I was born in Bar Harbor, Maine, but for most of my early years growing up, I lived in the area of Moncton, New Brunswick.  During my freshman year, our family moved to Fairfield, Maine, where I graduated from Lawrence High School.  In addition to academics at Lawrence High, I competed in cross country and track and field.  After high school, I studied at the University of Rochester and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  It was during my junior year of college that Teresa and I met and began dating.   We were engaged the following summer and then, married on May 21, 1978.  At that time I accepted a position as a Process Engineer working for Sun Oil Company in their Marcus Hook, PA refinery.

A very important part of my life from an early age has been my faith in Jesus Christ.  I had the great privilege of growing up in a loving Christian home where I made a commitment to Christ at the age of 4, encouraged by the example and influence of my mother.  When Teresa and I settled down to our lives together, we became actively involved in church life teaching Sunday School and working with youth.  During my third year with Sun Oil Company, I made the decision to leave engineering to attend Seminary in preparation for pastoral ministry.  I enjoyed three years at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary where I graduated with a Master of Divinity.  After seminary, Teresa and I returned to Maine where we served several churches since 1984.  During those years, I furthered my education working on a Doctor of Ministry at Gordon-Conwell (which I did not complete) and then, a Master of Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, graduating in 2005.  It was this same year that my ordination credentials were recognized by the American Baptist Church and, since then, I have enjoyed being a part of this larger Christian community.
